1.To test your outbound internet speed
a.Go to the start menu on your computer and select "Run."
b.Type in “cmd ” and hit "OK"
c.Type in tracert www.scribe.com and press "Enter."

Please take a screen shot of the results, once the page says “Trace complete”, and eMail it to tier2support@scribe.com.

To take a screen shot, hold down one of the following combinations of buttons on your keyboard (different keyboards have this configured differently, which is why I have several options below).

 - Ctrl + PrtSc (Print Screen)

 - Ctrl+ Fn + PrtSc (Print Screen)

 - Fn + Prt Sc (Print Screen)

Then open up a Word document and use Ctrl + V to paste in the screen shot.

If any of the numbers are over 50 milliseconds this could indicate a problem with your outbound internet speed (from your computer to the requested page, in this case Scribe MT). Asterisks that come up in the results columns show that the test is timing out, which indicates very long wait times for your internet company to send the request to connect to Scribe.

2.Bandwidth test (how much bandwidth do you have ?

You can also run an independent test of the inbound speed (from Scribe to your computer).

Many sites offer free upload and download speed tests. We recommend that you go to your preferred search engine (such as Google or Ask), and enter the words "download upload speed test" to select and run an independent test of your connectivity prior to using Scribe.
