Voice File Storage

Top  Previous  Next

Problem:

I would like to have access to a voice file.  How long does Scribe store voice files and in what format?

Probable Cause:

When a doctor dictates into a digital voice recorder and we send it up to Scribe via ftp, then it gets converted to a WMA (Windows Media Audio) or WAV (Wave Sound) file which can then be downloaded by a transcriptionist.

Solution:

The cost to restore an audio file to the platform is $20 per file.

1.        We save the "original" format for two weeks (like dss).

2.We save the "compressed" wave format for 30 days

3.        We save the "distributed format" (whatever is chosen for the MT group) for

90 days live and about 1year in the background.

Resolution:

If it is within the timeframes listed above, you should be able to gain access to a voice file.
