Quick Start Guide to Using the Olympus DS-3000 with Scribe

Requirements

Olympus DS-3000 Digital Voice Recorder
Olympus DSS Player Pro Software (included with the voice recorder)
Microsoft Outlook 97 or higher, or any other MAPI compliant email program

 

Setup

1.Configure the recorder with your Scribe ID and PIN.
a.Press and hold the FOLDER/MENU button for more than 1 second to open the menu. “AUTHOR ID” appears on the display.
b.Press the REC/SET button. The Author ID currently assigned to the recorder appears on the display.
c.Press the REC/SET button to enter edit mode. A flashing cursor appears on the display.
d.Press the FF/+ or REW/- button to choose characters. Available characters are 0 to 9, A to Z, and space.

 

REC button:

To input the selected character and advance the input position.

NEW button:

Acts as a backspace.

ERASE button:

To delete the flashing character.

INDEX button:

Lets you insert one space.

 

e.Enter your Scribe ID, followed by the letter “Z”, followed by your PIN. (ex. “1628Z1234”). This "code" is how Scribe identifies the owner of the files.
f.After entering the Scribe ID and PIN, press and hold the REC/SET button for more than 1 second to make it the current Author ID.
g.Press the STOP button to close the menu.

 

2.Configure the Olympus software to email files to Scribe.
a.Method 1 – Send files via the Dictation Module software.
i.Install the Olympus DSS Player Pro software that is included with the recorder.
ii.Open the Dictation Module program, and under the Tools menu select Options.

iii.On the Mail tab, add “olympus@scribe.com” to the “To:” field and click the SET button. Note: olympus@scribe.com MUST be set as a contact in the Personal folder of the Outlook (or other MAPI compliant) email address book.
iv.In the SUBJECT field, type in the 6-digit serial number of the Olympus recorder. The serial number can be found on the small barcode sticker located on the right outside panel of the box.

v.Click the OK button.
vi.Note: Your computer must have Outlook or a MAPI compliant email program already setup to send/receive email.
vii.To send files to Scribe, simply right click on the file and select “Send Files”.

b.Method 2 – Drag and drop files into your email program.
i.Install the Olympus DSS Player Pro software that is included with the recorder.
ii.To send files to Scribe, simply highlight all the files you wish to send and drag them into your email program.

iii.Enter your Scribe ID, followed by the letter “Z”, followed by your PIN into the body of the email. (ex. “1628Z1234”.)
iv.If available, enter the serial number of your device into the subject area of the email.
v.Send the email to olympus@scribe.com.

 

 

3.Sending STAT files to Scribe.
a.Method 1 – Choose between “HIGH” and “NORMAL” priorities during dictation. The default is NORMAL.
i.Press the FOLDER/MENU button to choose a folder.
ii.Press the FF/+ or REW/- button several times to choose the file to set a priority level.
iii.Press the INDEX button for longer than 1 second. “PRIORITY NORMAL” should be displayed.
iv.Press the INDEX button to choose between “HIGH” and “NORMAL”.
v.Press the REC/SET button to accept the choice.
vi.When the file is downloaded onto your computer, it will be RED in color.

vii.Files marked “HIGH” will be sent by 4 Hr STAT priority. Files marked “NORMAL” will be sent by 48 Hr priority.

 

b.Method 2 – Choose between 6 different priorities once the file has been downloaded to your computer.
i.Once the file has been downloaded into the Dictation Module, right click the file and choose a priority level before sending.

ii.Valid priority levels include the following:

(Note: If you are not licensed for a specific priority through Scribe, the file will be sent at the next closest priority level as specified by your agreement. If no match is found, you will receive an error message.)
